Happy Birthday to moi!

Over the Canada Day long weekend, A.H. and I went to London to visit my folks upon my mother's insistence that she bake me a cake for my birthday. (Ok, it may have been my insistence...if you've ever tried her cakes, you'd understand).

Birthdays aren't such a big deal to me, I'm at the point in my life where I don't really need anything (not that I don't appreciate gifts), so cake and company is all I need. That being said, my Grandma very generously gave me some money in honour of my 28th year on earth. And what does one do with gift money? You blow it all on vintage clothes!

So this past weekend, A.H. and I wandered down Queen East to Gadabout Vintage to poke around and see if I could find something birthday-worthy. I tried on two dresses and settled on one very lovely and flowy 70s maxi dress:

Just perfect for summer! I left it with the shop owner at the cash while I headed upstairs to check out the rest of the wares. After a quick browse I came down to fetch Alex and cash out. "Did you see the red halter dress up there?" the owner asked, "It would fit you perfectly." I hadn't, but said I was happy to try. She went upstairs and came back in no time with a cute red and black and white patterned halter dress. She was right, it fit perfectly. (The owner has a particular knack for A) knowing absolutely everything that's in the store, which I guess would make sense because she personally buys all of it, and B) knows immediately if something will fit you).

I hummed and hawed over which to pick - they were both lovely and summery and oh so 70s! "How about if I gave you a bulk discount on both?" she asked. Well, who could say no to that!

Happy Birthday to me indeed:

I realized I looked really serious in these pictures. Let's try again:

Whee!
So fab!
